This week we are talking with Doug Simpson, the author of The Soul of Jesus.
Tell us something unexpected about yourself!
When I have difficulty deciding where my story is going next, I receive guidance from the other side.

What kind of books do you write?
Inspirational stories involving the survival of souls after the death of bodies and reincarnation of souls.

What inspired you to write?
Most people do not have the time to investigate the possibility of reincarnation so I wanted to encourage people to do so by writing stories of reincarnations.

What makes your writing stand out from the crowd?
I tell my story and do not fill the pages with irrelevant fluff.

What is the hardest part of writing – for you?
I write from inspiration and sometimes I have to wait for the inspiration or assistance from the other side to turn my light on.

Where do you like to write – what is your routine?
I am a retired teacher so generally I write when I want or need to.

What do you do when you are not writing – do you have a day job?
Latest adventure is kayaking.

Do you work with an outline or just write?
Inspiration. I know the direction my story is headed and wait for it to evolve.

What advice would you have for other writers?
Do not get discouraged by writer’s block or rejections. They are simply learning experiences to improve your work.

How important is marketing and social media for you?
Very important.

What’s your next step?
I have some completed manuscripts I need to send for publication.
